Coming off medication safely

The wish to reduce your medication is understandable, but only your own doctor can assess it, never an online programme. How you eat, sleep and move is already in your hands, today.

A safe way to approach this

The thought of reducing medication can arise as your lifestyle starts to change. JP's own experience sits behind this subject, but detailed personal medical history should not be used as a promise or a model for someone else.

Reducing or stopping medication is always a decision your doctor must assess and approve, based on your test results, medical history and ongoing monitoring. No one can, or may, make that decision for you from a distance, let alone promise it in advance.

If this wish is on your mind, raise it with your own doctor. Do not change anything on your own. Every situation is individual, and only your doctor sees the whole picture needed for a decision.

What is in your hands

While decisions about medication belong to your doctor, many things in your everyday life are entirely in your own hands: how you eat, how you sleep, how you move and what your relationship with food is like. You can start influencing these today, whatever happens to your medication later.

Many people have said that once their relationship with food starts changing through understanding, their everyday energy and wellbeing change noticeably too. This isn't promised to everyone, though, because every situation is individual. It's worth telling your doctor about these changes at your check-ups, so they can assess your situation as a whole.

These observations shouldn't be read as a promise that your own need for medication will decrease. Every body reacts differently, and the only reliable way to assess your situation is regular monitoring together with your doctor.

Understanding first, no rush

Food Freedom means having space to examine your relationship with food without turning medication into a guessing game. You can look at eating situations, sleep, movement and daily load. Medication questions are always handled with your doctor.

Your own pace and calm are part of this work. Support for understanding your relationship with food can sit alongside medical monitoring; it does not change who makes treatment decisions.
